Villages in Noida| Villages of Gautam Buddha Nagar
The history of the development of the current city of Noida dates back to 1972 when the government of Uttar Pradesh, taking note of the growing pressure of speculative land transactions in this area, very close to Delhi and with delayed development characteristics, declared 50 villages of the erstwhile district of Bulandshahar as the “Yamuna-Hindon-Delhi Border Regulated area” under the provisions of U.P. Regulation of Building Operations Act, 1958
Eventually, on April 17, 1976, the Uttar Pradesh government notified 36 villages in the “area regulated by the Yamuna-Hindon-Delhi border as New Okhla Industrial Development Area (NOIDA)
In 1991, the notified area of Noida included a total of 81 income villages, of which 29 were urban villages (within the developed urban borders & sectors of the city of the census of Noida) and 10 were uninhabited. In 2001, the population of urban villages is not shown separately; instead, its population is considered part of the population of the census city of Noida and, therefore, the total number of villages is reduced to 52, including 9 uninhabited villages.
On 30th January 2021 Uttar Pradesh government notified 80 more villages to be brought under the ambit of the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA). The area is to be developed as a “special investment region” under the name “Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad investment region” to attract investment and create opportunities. The 80 villages — 60 in the neighboring Bulandshahr district and 20 in Gautam Budh Nagar will be developed like a satellite city.
