Sikh Population in World 2024
The worldwide Sikh population is estimated between 26-30 million. As per estimates, Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world making up 0.39% of the world population or around 30 million people.
Sikh communities exist on every inhabited continent, with the largest total emigrant populations being in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Countries with the largest proportion of Sikhs include Canada (2.1%), India (1.7%), the United Kingdom (0.7%), and the United States (0.30%).

Sikh Population in India 2024
At the census 2011, out of the 1.21 billion population, little over 20.8 million (1.72%) are Sikh. Punjab (57%), Chandigarh (13.11%), Haryana (4.91%), Delhi (3.40%), Uttarakhand (2.34%) and Jammu & Kashmir (1.87%) are important States/Uts having Sikh populations.
In 2024 approximately 2.4 Crore or 24 million people follow Sikhism in India.

Sikh Population by States and UTs
Punjab is the stronghold of Sikhism. The Sikh population of Punjab accounts for more than 75 % of the total Sikh population in the country. Chandigarh (13.11%), Haryana (4.91%), Delhi (3.40%), Uttarakhand (2.34%) and Jammu & Kashmir (1.87%) are other important States/Uts having Sikh populations. These six states/Uts together account for nearly 90 percent Sikh population in the country.
