Surat is one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the state of Gujarat, India.  It is the eighth-largest city and ninth-largest urban agglomeration in India. Census 2011 Details

As per the provisional reports of Census India, the population of Surat City in 2011 was 44,67,797( 44.67 Lakhs) of which the male population is 25,43,623 and the female population is 19,24,174.

DENSITY

The initial provisional data released by Census India 2011, shows that the density of Surat for 2011 is 13000 people per sq. km. Surat city administers area is 472 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Surat City in 2011 was 87.90%. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 91.20% and 83.40% respectively. Total literate in Surat city was 3,443,411 of which 2,042,901 are males while 1,400,510 are females.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Surat, it stood at 756 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio was 808 girls per 1000 boys

CHILD POPULATION
