Slovakia, officially the Slovak Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Slovakia became an independent state on 1 January 1993 after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia. According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovakia, As of June 30, 2024, Slovakia’s population stood at 5,422,194, reflecting a decrease of 4,659 compared to the previous year.
In the 2nd quarter of 2024, there were 11,345 live births and 12,187 deaths, resulting in a natural population decrease of 842. Net foreign migration added 411 people, bringing the total population decline for the quarter to 431, which was 474 lower than the same period in 2023.
