Sangli is a city in the state of Maharashtra, India. Together with its twin city Miraj and Urban Agglomeration, It’s known as Sangli Miraj Kupwad Metropolitan Region (SMKMR). Sangli is known for its turmeric trade, grapes, and the largest number of sugar factories in India.

As per the provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Sangli Miraj Kupwad City in 2011 was 502,793 (5.02 Lakhs) of which the male population is 253,640 and the female population is 249,153.

The initial provisional data released by Census India 2011, shows that the density of Maheshtala for 2011 is 4766 people per sq. km. Maheshtala city administers area is 141 sq. km
 
LITERACY RATE
 
The average literacy rate of Sangli Miraj Kupwad City in 2011 was 85.91 %. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 90.02 % and 81.77 % respectively. The total literate in Sangli city was 3,85,728 of which 2,02,852 are males while 1,82,876 are females.
 

SEX RATIO
