Puducherry earlier Pondicherry is a union territory in the southern part of India. It was formed out of four territories of former French India, namely Pondichéry, Karikal (Karaikal), Mahé, and Yanaon (Yanam). It’s the 29th most populous and the third most densely populated of the states and union territories of India.
As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Puducherry in 2011 was 1,247,953 (12.48 Lakhs) and the estimated population in 2024 was 1,683,000 (16.8 lakh)
