Patiala City and District Population

Patiala is a city in southeastern Punjab, northwestern India. It is the fourth largest city in the state of Punjab. Patiala is located around the Qila Mubarak constructed by the Sidhu Jat chieftain Ala Singh, who founded the royal dynasty of Patiala State in 1763, after whom the city is named. As per the Census 2011, the population of Patiala is 4.06 lakh and the estimated population of Patiala in 2024 is 5 lakh.

At the start of the 20th century, the Patiala City population was around 50 thousand and it don’t show any major growth until the Independence of India.  The population doubled to 1 lakh in 1951 & saw a high growth after that. It will reach half-million by 2022.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Patiala City in 2011 is 4,06,192 (4.06 Lakhs) of which the male population is 215,617 and the female population is 190,575.

DENSITY

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Patiala for 2011 is 5803 people per sq. km. Patiala city administers area is 70 sq. km.

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Patiala City in 2011 was 85.78 %. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 88.85 % and 82.31% respectively. The total literate in Patiala city was 313,583 of which 172,225 are males while 141,358 are females.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Patiala, it stood at 903 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 884 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 864 girls per 1000 boys.

CHILD POPULATION
