Christianity is the majority religion in Liberia and its followed by 86% of the population. Among Christians, Protestants churches have the largest adherents followed by the Roman Catholics, and other small Christian groups. Protestant Churches include Baptist, African Methodist Episcopal, and African Methodist Episcopal Zion churches, Presbyterian, Nazarene Anglican, Lutheran, and a variety of Pentecostal churches.
Muslims comprised 12.2% of the population, largely represented by the Mandingo and Vai ethnic groups. Muslims are divided between Sunnis, Shias, Ahmadiyyas, Sufis, and non-denominational Muslims.
Other smaller religion is followed by 1.6% of the population and includes traditional religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Baháʼí Faith.
