As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Jammu City in 2011 is 5,02,197 (5.02 Lakhs) of which the male population is 2,63,141 and the female population is 2,39,056

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Jammu for 2011 is 18768 people per sq. km. Jammu city administers area is 26.64  sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Jammu City in 2011 was 83.91%. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 93.38 % and 86.62 % respectively. Total literate in Jammu city was 411,558 of which 222,438 are males while 189,120 are females.
