As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Guwahati City in 2011 is 9,57,352 (9.57 Lakhs) of which the male population is 4,95,362 and the female population is 4,61,990.
DENSITY
The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Guwahati for 2011 is 3400 people per sq. km. Guwahati city administers an area is 328 sq. km
LITERACY RATE
The average literacy rate of Guwahati City in 2011 was 91.47%. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 94.24% and 88.50% respectively. The total literate in Guwahati city was 7,93,360 of which 4,23,122 are males while 3,70,238 are females.
SEX RATIO
With regards to the Sex Ratio in Guwahati, it stood at 933 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 940 girls per 1000 boys
CHILD POPULATION
In census enumeration, data regarding children under 0-6 age were also collected. There were a total of 90,029 children under the age of 0-6 years. Of the total 46,401 are boys while 43,628 are girls. The child Sex Ratio as per the census 2011 was 940. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 9.40 % of the total population of Guwahati City.
