The Czech Republic is the country with the highest percentage of people who don’t follow or affiliate with any religion. The vast majority of the population (78%) was either irreligious (atheist, agnostic, or other irreligious life stances) or declared neither religious nor irreligious identities. The religious identity of the country has changed drastically since the first half of the 20th century when more than 90% of the Czechs were Christians.
According to the official censuses conducted by the Czech Statistical Office, Christianity is the largest religion followed by 11.7% of the population. Catholicism is the largest branch of Christianity followed by 9.3% of people and other Christian denominations are at 2.4%
Small minority religions in the Czech Republic include Buddhism, Islam, Paganism, Hinduism, Judaism, and others. In the census 2021, 47.8% of the Czechs declared that they did not believe in any religion, while 30.1% did not declare any identification, neither religious nor irreligious.
