The Channel Islands are an archipelago in the English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. They include two Crown (UK) dependencies: the Bailiwick of Jersey, which is the largest of the islands; and the Bailiwick of Guernsey, consisting of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, and some smaller islands. Although they are not part of the United Kingdom, the UK is responsible for the defense and international relations of the islands.
As per the UN World Population Prospects, the estimated population of the Channel Islands in 2023 is 174,080 (174 thousand or 1.74 Lakhs)
