Benin is a religiously diverse country with no particular religion constituting the absolute majority of the population. Christianity is followed by 48.5% of the population. More than half of all Christians in Benin are Roman Catholic. Other Christian groups include Baptists, Methodists, Assemblies of God, Pentecostals, Seventh-day Adventists, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Jehovah’s Witnesses, Celestial Christians, Rosicrucians, the Unification Church.
Islam at 27.7% is the second-largest religion and Nearly all Muslims adhere to the Sunni Maliki branch of Islam. The Shia population in Benin is estimated between one and twelve percent of the total Muslim population of Benin. Many nominal Muslims also practice traditional local religious beliefs
Vodun African Traditional Religion is practiced by 11.6% of the population. Other religious groups in Benin include Eckankar and followers of the Baháʼí Faith.
