Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital of the Indian State of Karnataka. It has a population of over ten million, making it a megacity and the Third most populous City and 5th most populous urban agglomeration in India.  It is located in Southern India on the Deccan Plateau. Its elevation is over 900 m (3,000 ft) above sea level, the highest of India’s major cities.

Islam is the second most popular religion in the city, with approximately 13.90% of the population following it. Christianity has a following of 5.61%, followed by Jainism at 0.97%, Sikhism at 0.15%, and Buddhism at 0.06%. Around 0.01% of the population follow ‘Other Religions’, and approximately 0.44% of the population do not follow any particular religion.

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Bangalore for 2011 is 12000 people per sq. km. Bangalore city administers area is 741 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Bangalore City in 2011 was 88.71%. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 91.71% and 85.44% respectively.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Bangalore, it stood at 923 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio was 942 girls per 1000 boys

CHILD POPULATION
