As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Asansol City in 2011 was 5,63,917 (5.63 Lakh) of which the male population was 2,92,387 and the female population was 2,71,530

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Asansol for 2011 is 3500 people per sq. km. Asansol city administers area is 326 sq. km
LITERACY RATE
The average literacy rate of Asansol City in 2011 was 83.30%. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 88.31% and 77.90% respectively. The total literate in Asansol city was 419,592 of which 230,562 are males while 189,030 are females.
SEX RATIO
