Census 2011 Details

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Aizawl City in 2011 is 293,416  (2.93 Lakhs) of which the male population is 144,913 and the female population is 148,503.

DENSITY

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Aizawl for 2011 is 642 people per sq. km. Aizawl city administers area is 457 sq. km.

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Aizawl City in 2011 was 98.36 %. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 98.52 % and 98.21 % respectively. The total literate in Aizawl city was 253,192 of which 124,882 are males while 128,310 are females.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Aizawl, it stood at 1025 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 983 girls per 1000 boys.

CHILD POPULATION

In census enumeration, data regarding children under 0-6 age were also collected. There were a total of 36,012 children under the age of 0-6 years. Of the total 18,159 are boys while 17,853 are girls. The child Sex Ratio as per the census 2011 was 983. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 12.27 % of the total population of Aizawl City.
