Pakistani Population in United States
Pakistan has the 6th largest diaspora in the world, with 8-10 million people living or settled outside Pakistan. As per the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and HRD report 2017, an estimated 8.8 million Pakistanis live abroad or outside Pakistan.
According to the latest figures from the U.S. census, Pakistani American community stands at roughly 550,000, but informal estimates go up to over 1 million. As per the estimates, the Pakistani Population in the United States in 2022 is 554,202

Pakistanis in United States
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there were 554,202 U.S. residents of Pakistani descent living in the United States in 2019. The first wave of immigrants from present-day Pakistan migrated to the United States between 1893 and 1917 and settled in California as contract laborers. The second wave arrived after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, when the United States opened up immigration quotas for the new South Asian states.
Over 75% of Pakistani migration to the United States since 1965 occurred between 1990 and 2009. The community is concentrated in the major population centers of New York City, Washington DC, Houston, Chicago, and Dallas-Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
About half of Pakistani Americans are Punjabis, about 30% are Muhajirs, and the rest are made up of other ethnic groups from Pakistan, including Pashtuns, Balochis, Sindhis, Memons, and Kashmiris.
