Pakistan has the 6th largest diaspora in the world, with 8-10 million people living or settled outside Pakistan. As per the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and HRD report 2017, an estimated 8.8 million Pakistanis live abroad or outside Pakistan.
The UK is home to the largest Pakistani community in Europe and are the second-largest ethnic minority population in the United Kingdom and also make up the second-largest sub-group of British Asians. As per the UK Census 2016, the Pakistani Population in the United Kingdom is 1,509,904 (1.5 million)

British Pakistanis is also known as Pakistani British people or Pakistani Britons. The majority of British Pakistanis originate from the Azad Kashmir and Punjab regions, with a smaller number from other parts of Pakistan including Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The British Pakistani population has grown from about 10,000 in 1951 to over 1.5 million in 2016. The vast majority of them live in England, with a sizable number in Scotland and smaller numbers in Wales and Northern Ireland.
Population By Region
In the 2011 UK Census, 1,174,983 residents classified themselves as ethnically Pakistani. Of those Pakistanis living in England, Wales and Scotland in 2001, 55% were born in the UK, 36.9% in Pakistan and 3.5% elsewhere in Asia
The majority of British Pakistanis are from the Azad Kashmir and Punjab areas of Pakistan, with Azad Kashmiris making up the largest and Punjabis making up the second-largest portion. The most diverse Pakistani population is in London, which comprises Punjabis, Mirpuris, Pashtuns, Sindhis, Muhajirs, Saraikis, Baloch and others.
Large communities from Azad Kashmir can be found in Birmingham, Bradford, Oldham and the surrounding northern towns. Luton and Slough have the largest Mirpuri Kashmiri communities in the south of England, while a large proportion of Punjabis also resides in the south.[28] There is also a small Pakistani Pashtun population in the UK.

Religion of British Pakistanis
The majority of British Pakistanis are Muslim; around 90% of those living in England and Wales at the time of the 2011 UK Census stated their religion was Islam. The majority are Sunni Muslims, with a significant minority of Shia Muslims. The UK also has one of the largest overseas Christian Pakistani communities; the 2011 census recorded around 17,000 Christian Pakistanis living in England and Wales, 1.52 percent of the Pakistani population of England and Wales.
