Indian Population in United States
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Indian Americans have become the largest “Asian alone” group in the United States, surpassing Chinese Americans. The term “Asian alone” refers to individuals who identify solely as Asian, without combining it with any other race or ethnicity. In this category, Indian Americans now outnumber Chinese Americans. Indian Americans or Indo-Americans make up 1.54% of the U.S. population and are the largest group of South Asian Americans and the second largest group of Asian Americans after Chinese Americans. As per the United States Census Bureau 2023 estimates, the Total Asian Indians Population in the United States is 5,160,203 (5.1 million).
As per the Ministry of External Affairs (India) report 2023, there are 5,409,062 (54 Lakh) Indians residing in the United States.

California boasts the largest Asian Indian population among all U.S. states, with 810,043 individuals of Indian descent. Following closely behind is the Lone Star State, Texas, which is home to 434,221 people of Indian heritage. New Jersey also holds a notable Indian community, with 38,623 individuals followed by New York (371,987) and Illinois (248,679).

Religion of Indian population in U.S.
Indian Americans have diverse religious backgrounds & represented mainly by Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians & Jains. Hindus form the majority religious group amongst the Indian American community and number around 2.4 million followed by the Christians who are at approx 18% and Muslims at 10%.
