Panipat is a historic city in Haryana, India. It is 90 km north of Delhi and 169 km south of Chandigarh on NH-1. According to the legend, Panipat was one of the five cities founded by the Pandava brothers during the times of the Mahabharata.

LITERACY RATE
The average literacy rate of Panipat City in 2011 was 90.61%. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 93.95% and 87.18% respectively. Total literate in Panipat city was 213,121 of which 119,650 are males while 93,471 are females.
