Nagpur is a city in central India in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It’s the third-largest city in Maharashtra & also the winter capital of Maharashtra.  It is the 13th largest city in India by population. It’s one of the fastest-growing metropolitans in India & the Biggest city in Central India. It is a major commercial and political center of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Nagpur Historical Population

As per Census 2011, Nagpur city has a population growth rate of 17.23% during 2001-2011. It’s expected to have a population growth rate of around 14% during 2011-2021.

At the start of the 20th century, Nagpur’s population was 1.27 lakh & it took 40 years to double that. With the Independence of India, the population saw steady growth & it reached 1.2 million in the 1980 & 2 million by the start of 21st century. In the last two decades, population growth slowed a bit and hovering around 15%.

AREA & DENSITY

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Nagpur for 2011 is 11000 people per sq. km. Nagpur city administers area is 227 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Nagpur City in 2011 was 91.92%. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 94.44% and 89.31% respectively. The total literate in Nagpur city was 1,984,123 of which 1,157,272 are males while 1,054,090 are females.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Nagpur, it stood at 963 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 926 girls per 1000 boys

CHILD POPULATION
