Indians in United Kingdom
India has the largest diaspora in the world, and as per the Ministry of External Affairs, there are 3.2 Crores or 32 million Indians residing outside India. According to the Ministry of External Affairs 2018 report, there are 1,764,000 (17.64 Lakh) Indians residing in the United Kingdom.

- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) – 351,000 (3.51 Lakh)
As per the UK Census 2021, the Indian Population in the United Kingdom in 2021 is 1,888,641 (1.9 million). People born in India are the UK’s largest foreign-born population, totaling an estimated 832,000 in 2018.
The British Indian community is the sixth-largest in the Indian diaspora, behind the Indian communities in the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Nepal.
Indians make up around 2.86% of the United Kingdom’s population. As per the UK Census 2021, Total Indian Population in the United Kingdom is 1,909,711 (19 Lakh). The estimated population of Indians in the United Kingdom in 2023 is 19.20 Lakh or 1.92 million.

There were 348 local authorities in England and Wales. Half (50.2%) of the Indian population lived in 17 of them. Leicester was home to the largest Indian population, followed by Harrow and Birmingham.

Religion of Indian population in United Kingdom
British Indians have diverse religious backgrounds and although the plurality of British Indians is Hindu, the UK is home to the second-largest Sikh community outside India. There are also significant numbers of Muslim and Christian British Indians.
The majority of British Indians are of Punjabi and Gujarati descent, with smaller communities of Tamilian, Bengali, Malayali, Konkani, Marathi, and Telugu communities.
