Thane Population District

Thane district is a district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. According to the census 2011, It’s the most populated district of India. Later in 2014 it got bifurcated and split into two districts (Thane and Palhgar District). 

As per the provisional data of the 2011 census, Burificated Thane District had a population of 8,070,032 (80.70 Lakhs) out of which the male population was 4,319,299 and the female population was 3,750,733.

Thane District has a population growth rate of 36% during 2001-2011. Its estimated population in 2021 is 88 lakhs an increase of around 7 lakhs from 2011.

Sub Divisons of Thane district

The District is divided into 4 Subdivisions for administrative convenience. A Subdivision is headed by Sub Divisional Officer SDO/SDM in the rank of Assistant Collector in the Cadre of I.A.S or a Deputy Collector. Each division consists of a few Taluks.
